No idea myself if it was a good book because given as a gift. Just was told that it was a good book by the recipient.
Dr. Jeremiah has presented a book that focuses on the main players in the book of Revelation. The key players or events are the apostle John in exile on Patmos, the martyrs, the 144,000 Jewish witnesses, the two witnesses, the dragon, the beast from the earth, the beast from the sea, the Victor, and the Judge. Each one is described through a scripturally based narrative and explained afterwards through scripture. This book is not a comprehensive study of the book of Revelation, but a highlight. The narratives each bring forth engaging characters and interesting storylines based on the scripture subject. Each narrative is independent of the other, with the common thread of the books subjects. I wasn't sure how I felt about the book at first, because I hadn't thought about the narrative aspect of it when I started to read it. I still am a little ambivalent towards them, but I do believe that many people will like this aspect of the book. I was glad to see exposition of the stories with scripture. We know that that any fiction is just that, but it is nice to see good explanations of scripture alongside the narratives. This dual look at Revelation is a new perspective as opposed to only one or the other. Overall, I would recommend this book, especially to those who have more difficulty understanding the book of Revelation. If someone wanted to do an in depth study of the whole book of Revelation, this book wouldn't be it, but it has a place in supplementing an in-depth study.I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review. All ideas are my own.
I was not expecting much out of this book, I figured that it would just be another story about the Apocalypse. Boy was I wrong! It was so much more than that. It did have a fictional character base, but the difference is Dr Jeremiah related everything back to the book of Revelation. He explained it all in away that it made since. In The Left Behind series (do not get me wrong I loved that series and read every book) you were given a story with fictional characters and they told the story of what happens after Jesus comes back for His people. I did not get the impact that I did in reading the Agents of the Apocalypse. I could not put the book down. It really made me think am I really doing what is expected of me. I do not doubt my salvation but I do question am I doing all I can for the Kingdom of God. You will not be sorry you purchased this book. It can only make you think.
Let me make something very clear. I know that everyone has their own opinion regarding the end times and the order of events that take place.There have been numerous books written on the subject and I realize this is just one authors opinion but he gives very compelling arguments and explanations of how the end times could play out and backs up each argument with scripture references.This is one of the few books that I've read multiple times and I get more out of it with each reading.Actually, I think it's the only book I've read multiple times.It is very well written.
This is an excellent book, as all of Dr Jeremiah’s books are. I wasn’t too sure how I would feel about using fictionalized accounts to demonstrate personalities and events of the Tribulation. However, my doubts were quickly satisfied. The fictionalized accounts proved to be a perfect way to demonstrate just how complicated concepts could play out. I strongly recommend this book.
Sadly my sweet little right year old granddaughter was recently killed in a terrible accident. I am a Christian, and a friend of mine who lives far away called me today. We talked for an hour. She recommended that I purchase your book. I ordered as soon as our call was over and I spent all afternoon reading it. I loved reading it and be reminded that when this life is over it's not the end, it's just the beginning.
A telling of The Revelation, using a style that should be helpful to someone who is not a Bible scholar. Very similar to the Left Behind series in that it uses a story format to help the reader understand the scripture. I did not agree with everything I read, perhaps 95%. It has intrigued me to do some further study on that 5%, which is the millennial period, Jesus' thousand year reign before Satan is unleashed once again.
David Jeremiah is such a gifted preacher who isn't afraid to tackle those biblical subjects most pastors avoid. The Biblical evidence to give us a "taste of heaven" is overwhelming. I do not understand why pastors don't teach these truths so as to give us more confidence and also motivate us to share the Good News.
When it says 'a Riveting Look at the Key Players of the End Times', they were not kidding. I heard the sermon series on the radio show, and the book was as compelling. It fills in the details that were too plentiful to broadcast, and makes me more hopeful for the future. Strangely enough, there is no mention of Mystery, Babylon the Great (?), but the rest was very informative, and I'm saying this as one who has studied Revelation and the End Times for at least three decades. One warning: The section on The Great White Throne chilled me to the marrow.

I LOVE this book, I always get the latest edition. It has all the info you'll ever need and the hundreds of rhythms WITH THE ANSWERS are fantastic! You have so many to practice on and then check your interpretation. I highly recommend this book, especially for newbies to the Tele floor...practice, practice, practice...and this book is great practice!
I work at a Level 1 Trauma Center, and this is THE book used for the 5 day arrhythmia class for nurses. And I can totally see why they chose it. The descriptions are great, and there are a gazillion rhythm strips to practice with answers in the back of the book. This is one of those things that you lose fast if you don't use is often. So it takes a lot of ongoing practice to really burn it into your head. The huge number of practice strips makes this book a winner. I find myself disagreeing with some of the interval measurements here and there, but you'll find that in any book. And that's kind of okay, because the overall net result is that I'm really becoming good at the fundamentals. Today I was taking the post test in the back of the book and found myself positive that I was looking at a 3rd degree heart block, yet the author said it was Mobitz II. The thing that makes me okay with some of these little squabbles I have with the author is that the clinical implications of my disagreements are pretty insignificant. With the heart block example, I'm quite aware that sometimes Mobitz II and complete heart block can be hard to distinguish in some cases, and it may be left up to Cardiology to sort it out. My job is to realize that I have an underperfused patient with a heart block that requires pacing, and this book has been fundamental in teaching me that. Overall I'm extremely satisfied and will be purchasing another copy just to re-practice the rhythm strips again (which I've written all over with ink!)
This is a workbook for my classes. I have used this author since the 4th edition. She is missing QTIs, but I love the fact each chapter has about 100 practice strips.
Pretty sure I did every single rhythm strip in this book. By the end of cardiology it was taking me less than 10 seconds to ID a strip and I was able to explain it to others. This is probably better for a paramedic and what I imagine is a cardiologist's 101 class
I like this book. Simple to understand and concise . I passed the test without problem. This would be a good resource in the clinical settings

I was required to get this book for an ECG class during undergrad and loved it. I sold my book because I was a broke college student. I am now in nursing school and am relearning about arrhythmias. I repurchased this book because of how helpful it was. It has plenty of practice problems to help interpret all different types of arrhythmias. I plan on keeping this book!

This is the best non-fiction book I have ever read. Deutsch has an amazing ability to articulate the most sophisticated high level physics in profoundly clear terms for non-physicists. He marches through each explanation, leaving no question unanswered, clearly painting word pictures that make every nuance of his ideas in quantum physics as clear and beautiful as a DaVinci painting. This is the BEST book on the subject of parallel universes and time travel available to non-physicists (and I have read them all, including F. A. Wolfe, Michio Kaku, etc). If you would like to read a Science Fiction novel on time travel that matches his theory of Parallel Universes and Time Travel, check out the following book, also available at Amazon.com The Hiroshima Agenda: "Does the NSA have a working time machine?"
Professor Deutsch gives us a update on the nature of physical reality from three aspects - the nature of understanding in science, the reality of the multiverse, and the limits of virtual reality as a true test of reality. Any one of these is likely to be a revelation to the reader, and even a former physicist like myself cannot read this without a perceptual shift.You will not have to do higher math. You will have to think. This is NOT a review of current science, it's a phase transition in the understanding of the nature of reality.
Overall 5 stars, extremely interesting and good read. I also find the main thesis fairly convincing but that doesn't figure into the rating much in this case, for me. There are a few points that I feel were not material to the main point of the book and which were also poorly argued, and if I were editing the book I'd simply remove them-- Deutsch's seeming insistence on some kind of libertarian free will (I think he even says explicitly "you could have done otherwise") as a consequence of Many Worlds, a somewhat frantic argument at the end of the book where he attacks a strawman of evolutionary psychology trying to make a genealogical case against moral realism, and the chapter on time travel.
Until I got well over half way through the book, I found Deutsch's The Fabric of Reality difficult to put together. It took completing the book and then rereading points I had highlighted throughout the text to make sense of it at all. While I found some of the information helpful and instructive and some of it intriguing, I'm not altogether sure I would recommend it as a way of finding out about the "Four Strands" of which Dr. Deutsch composes his ultimate reality. Reading some of the works he includes in his bibliography might be a more helpful starting point for the average person interested in the subject. Among these are The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins, The Blind Watchmaker, also by Dawkins, Popper's Conjectures and Refutations and The Myth of the Framework and Weinberg's The First Three Minutes.Although I agree with the author, and with E. O. Wilson (Consiliance), that a certain synthesis among the various branches of human knowledge are a necessary prerequisite for advancing much beyond what the 20ieth century has accomplished, I'm not certain that I'm yet prepared for or convinced of the need for a multiverse explanation of reality.The author makes some very important points about science which bear repeating for those who have not yet heard them. For instance, "A scientific argument is intended to persuade us that a given explanation is the best one available. It does not and could not say anything about how that explanation will fare when, in the future, it is subjected to new types of criticism and compared with explanations that have yet to be invented (p. 64)." This is a fundamental principle of the scientific process that escapes many lay individuals and even some scientists.He also notes that scientific theories must do more than simply predict the future, since "Shoddy explanations that yield correct predictions are two a penny, as UFO enthusiasts, conspiracy-theorists and pseudo-scientists of every variety should (but never do) bear in mind (p. 65)."More importantly still in describing scientific methodology the author writes, "Here I must mention an asymmetry which is important in the philosophy and methodology of science: the asymmetry between experimental refutation and experimental confirmation. Whereas an incorrect prediction automatically renders the underlying explanation unsatisfactory, a correct prediction says nothing at all about the underlying explanation (p.65)." This too is often forgotten or misunderstood by those who do not do research of this kind.In general the book tries to cover too much in too small a space. Rarely do I write reviews, but this book deserves all the stars I can give it. I collect cookbooks, and whenever Phaidon releases a new one, I automatically purchase it. Although the books are always beautifully presented, the quality of the recipes can vary, and some of the books have practically no recipe notes at all (squinting at you, VEGAN).Fortunately for me, this cookbook checks all of my boxes. The presentation is gorgeous, with full-color photographs accompany every two or three recipes. Furthermore, there is a LOT of information about ingredients, preparation methods, meal presentation and cooking/serving equipment. You can really learn a lot just by paging through this volume, which is one of the most important qualities I look for in a cookbook.I would also note that this book is bound in such a way that it stays open on a cookbook stand, which is a huge help. It's a sizable tome, but not so thick that it won't fit in my stand. That may not be important to some, but it's nice to be able to use a cookbook without scraping up the bottoms of the pages as you wrestle the thing into your cookbook holder.So, final verdict: BUY IT. ::)
This book is great. Anyone looking for a gateway into Japanese cuisine should buy this immediately. Im a culinary student, and due to my mentors advice of "self study the cuisine you are interested in" I decided to specialize in Japanese cuisine. First of all this book is absolute beautiful. Stunningly so. Like honestly whoever designed this book needs a raise or a bonus or something. I honestly could go on about how wonderful this book is but I wont at risk of sounding like a paid reviewer. But seriously, just get it. I never write reviews but I would be doing the author of this book and any potential buyers a disservice if i didn't.I almost forgot one of my favorite parts of this book! I couldn't read this at Barnes and Noble because it was wrapped in plastic. It comes that way. I read reviews. I purchased cheaper than Barnes and knew I could return. I dunno about the translation or transfer of Japanese. I do know that it does discuss the very minimal basics of Japanese cooking such as dashi. It is a history lesson in the first dozen pages but come on, that's awesome. The print is DEFINITELY smaller than normal but I think that's because the book would be twice the size. Sure, the photos aren't labeled but you can figure out an egglant dish vs a salmon dish if you read the page with ingredient list and know what food looks like. Stress the "what food looks like" part. It's not a beginner cook book which I think is the problem most people have (especially the ones needing captions on the photos). I'm not upset I purchased it. It has easy and more skilled recipes but explains things with reference to another page if you don't know how to make the basics. Get it if you are familiar with cooking east Asian cuisine. Don't if you're still reading The Joy of Cooking.
This is one of the best written Japanese cookbooks I've come across. It is written with a foreign reader's unfamiliarity towards the cuisine in mind, so it explains what the dish is about, and ultimately how the author puts her twist on it or how she replaces certain ingredients to build flavour. And the recipes are 100% easy to follow. Useful for both professional chefs and home cooks.
