I think those who discredit this for being more of a cookbook than a "lifestyle" book have missed the point of hygge and weren't paying attention to Johansen's writing. She constantly mentions food in each chapter and the vital role it plays into fueling an active lifestyle, maintaining a wholesome diet, how it brings loved ones together, how making more sustainable food choices affects nature and your body, etc. Simply put, the recipes are a big part of the book because it's a big part of hygge.I also understand some of these ingredients aren't readily available at a local supermarket--but we're all on Amazon right now, aren't we? With it and the Internet with countless shops and stores and items online, we really don't have the excuse of saying, "This is just too exotic, I can't possibly find it, I can't possibly try this, it's too much work to find this."Give it a shot! This is a great book with lovely insights, and I guarantee everyone will take something away from it.

Beautiful book! I’m trying to incorporate some Hygge into my life and home without spending gobs of money...little things like clearing spaces, candles, lighter picture frames... These little things do make my home more cozy. But just reading the book alone makes you feel more relaxed and cozy. I really love the book and am sending to friends for gifts.
I got this from the library first and loved it so much I had to buy it. I enjoyed the author’s focus on the outdoors, something often glossed over in other books on hygge, and her empowering take on life. She seems very at ease in her body, and her body positivity was bolstering and inspiring. Other books talk decor and downtime, which the author definitely covers as well; but I love how much further she took it.
Lots of recipes involving specialized items which would involve complicated trips to far-off specialty stores, kind of a Hygge-killer right there. But the photos are gorgeous and the non-recipe commentary is excellent. Skol!
I thought this book is well written, with equal attention to all the nordic cultures. Its very interesting, and i would love for her to write something more in depth.

From the Authors: Five Ways to Deepen Your Knowledge of Fixed Income Markets in the Wake of the Financial Crisis By Bruce Tuckman and Angel Serrat 1. Get to know the 'big picture' of markets and institutions. When markets are calm, you can get away with focusing on your products, your markets, and your customers or trading partners. During a crisis, however, everyone and everything reacts to the same macro forces. To take one example from the '07-'09 crisis, the deterioration of the housing market put stress on structured mortgage products and on the balance sheets of financial institutions, which, in turn, led to the collapse of a seemingly unrelated market, namely that for municipal auction rate securities. Weakened financial institutions were not in a position to support the auctions, which were failing as investors abandoned nearly all short-term investments in structured products. 2. Understand financing. Financial businesses lose money by bets on some market going bad, but they most often fail because they lose their financing. For example, at the start of the financial crisis, many hedge funds that invested exclusively in mortgage-backed securities on a levered basis were forced to unwind and cease operations. This was in part due to portfolio losses, but mostly due to depletion of capital from having to post more and more collateral in support of their borrowing. An even more important example, of course, was the threat to broker-dealers during the crisis, whose repo and commercial paper funding evaporated. 3. Be aware of money market spreads, basis swaps, and credit risk. Perhaps the single most telling icon of the financial crisis is the graph of the three-month LIBOR-OIS spread. This spread, which can be thought of as the cost of locking up funds for three months relative to borrowing at the overnight fed funds rate, became a key metric of financial stress during the crisis. From 2005 to 2007, the average of the USD and EUR LIBOR-OIS spreads were about eight and six basis points, respectively; at the height of the crisis, these spreads peaked at about 365 and 200 basis points, respectively. Of course, locking in the fed funds rate plus the LIBOR-OIS spread is achieved by borrowing at LIBOR and paying LIBOR vs. OIS in a basis swap. More broadly speaking, this all means that credit risk, even at short maturities and even for historically solid counterparties, can no longer be assumed away. 4. Learn how the practice of discounting has changed. Until relatively recently, the cash flows of swaps were discounted at rates derived from par swap rates. This was never a perfectly sound methodology in theory, but so long as LIBOR was not too different from the cost of funding, the methodology was good enough. During the crisis, however, when LIBOR rose way above the cost of funding, discounting at par swap rates gave significantly misleading results. As a result, the most sophisticated practitioners completed their conversion to a two-curve pricing methodology, and, in June 2010, LCH Clearnet converted to OIS discounting. 5. Follow regulatory changes to derivatives markets. The Dodd-Frank law and other regulatory initiatives set out to require that certain swaps be cleared and that others be subject to new rules and capital requirements. Despite the significant passage of time, however, many of the details of the new regulatory regime, including the criteria for mandated clearing and the extent of capital requirements for non-cleared swaps, remain in flux. As a result, significant uncertainties exist with respect to the costs of using and of making markets in swaps. I got this book for my finance class. Material is good but I guess the author did not explain thing well enough. I had to watch YouTube video to understand material.
The author describes fixed income detailedly but understandably. This book is lighter than expected. This shipment is fast and the condition of this book is pretty good even like brand new!
Includes relevant topics for practitioners. It is comprehensive enough, with useful tools and avoiding extensive matemathical developments. Fair price vrs similar books. Recommended.
Tuckman and Serrat are extremely intelligent and have written a great book here. I have not gotten through all of it but this book explains the securities and markets throughout the world well.
The 3rd Edition of Bruce Tuckman's "Fixed Income Securities" is outstanding. The Introduction gives the best overview of today's fixed income market I have ever read. Part 1 to Part 3 is classic with updated examples. These three parts have educated a whole generation of MBAs and "quants." The new chapters in Part 4, on CDS and mortgage-backed securities, are extremely relevant.The authors successfully bridge theory and practice. If you want to have just one book on Fixed Income, this is the one.

Great content but the Kindle edition is poorly done due to misaligned and improperly sized block equations and numbering, inline equations sticking out, punctuation surrounding equations occasionally overflowing to a separate line etc - definitely not an eye candy. Appears same in cloud reader and on the iPad. I wonder why couldn't they just make a PDF from the source TeX file of the book.
Unnecessarily complex. Very hard to understand so did not help for my studies at all.

I felt so much better after reading this book. Everyone told me I needed to go to counseling for grief therapy after my husband died, but I didn't feel the need to do so. This book validated that as human beings we are resilient and most of us find out way through the grieving process and out the other side without the intervention of professionals and that such intervention can even prolong the grieving process. I have been accused of being "the merry widow" because I was able to laugh and enjoy life in between the bouts of deep yearning and sadness that comes with widowhood. However, this book affirms that this is the way that people heal and recover from losses. We are designed to recover from the setbacks in life and go on to live our lives as fully as possible, not stay in the shadows remembering what once was or could have been. It is the only book that validated my own personal experience as being normal. Our society expects widows to be uniformly sad for a year and then suddenly be over it. The reality of recovery from this kind of loss is very different from society's expectations and this book provides the scientific evidence to explain how healthy, resilient people deal with their loss and recover over time.
I lost my husband and two sons in a small plane crash. People asked me, "How could you survive?" Bonanno explains how we survive by summarizing the research that shows that most humans are incredibly resilient. He does not discount the sadness that one experiences but shows that many people can survive and live happy lives despite their losses. Excellent book.
I discovered Bonanno on the "Grief" article on Wikipedia. He's a Columbia University psychologist whose chief insight is that most people display resilience in the face of adversity. Contra the grief counseling establishment (and industry), sixty percent of people bounce back pretty quickly and successfully. About 10-15% do not, it is true. He doesn't ignore them.I think the time spent on personal cases (including his own) adds greatly to the reading experience. This book is a very detailed and highly researched book on the bereavement and grieving process, how to approach it, move through it, and find the happiness that lies beyond. I will say it is a heavy read. I read three or four pages a day and then had to study them in my mind and make sure I understood what Dr. Bonnano was try to tell me. As a Christian, I did have to add my own parallel thoughts to his work, but that actually added a dimension to the book and to my own understanding. In short, it helped me figure out where I was at with God on my own.A great book for those willing to take the time to read and understand the journey. This was the third book in my selection to better understand myself and my grief.
I am a student doing a graduate diploma in counselling, and I bought this book to do some reading on grief as I will be studying grief trauma and loss next semester. Long story short this is a beautiful book, just beautiful. Plenty of scientific information about grief as well as many illustrative stories. George explores his own grieving of his father's death, and the book ends in a marvellous exploration of many cultures, and the ultimate mysticism of the loss of a loved one. I have recommended this book to many and have read it twice.
This fellow is brilliant. Empirical data! Great work, a huge contribution to the psychology of grief. Why are we still teaching Kubler-Ross? She did a great service creating a language of grief and getting the medical community to face grief, however, we know more now. This book and Bannano's work is an accumulation of that knowledge.
It was an interesting book, but not what I expected. It was not really helpful for me but that doesn't mean it wouldn't for someone else. Everyone is different and grieves in their own way. I was searching for something different than this. This book was on the list at our Hospice as a possibility.
Bonanno is a chair at Columbia University in NYC and has been studying grief for several decades. He knows his material and makes a case for individual forms of grieving that don't follow anyone's "theory" of grieving or coming to terms with death and sadness. I can highly recommend the book. He was someone I interviewed for a book I wrote on MS for patients with that disorder.

I have followed Alan Stein for many years to learn ways to help my players and students improve not only in basketball, but also life.When I read he had a book I pre-ordered right away and devoured this book as soon as it arrived. I took time to process each chapter to absorb all the ideas.At first, I was skeptical because there are so many books that cover these topics, but I was blown away by this book. This book challenged my thinking, had me discussing topics with my family, and has provided me key teaching points to my youth teams.I also see many opportunities to weave these ideas when working with educators and administrators about how to get better.My Evernote file is loaded with notes. My pages are scribbled and highlighted with ideas. My brain is full. This book is a must read for 2019. I am not sure there will be too many other books that come close to helping the reader get focused on what matters to being successful in life. Anyone looking for new ways of understanding self-awareness, passion, discipline, failure, confidence, vision, culture, servant, character, belief, unselfishness, role clarity, communication, and cohesion needs to read this book.
There are a couple things that come to mind when I think about Alan Stein; authentic, high-energy, and relentless work ethic. Alan is all about serving others. I've had the pleasure of working camps with him and he is always the one that brings the most energy to the gym. He is always working on his craft. He started out where we all start out and has worked his way up to one of the best in his fields. He trained the high level NBA players we all admire and has seen what they do in the unseen hours. Now, Alan is sharing his wealth of knowledge and experiences with all of us. I read a lot of leadership/high performance books and I love a great sports story. AND in the past year I have gotten a bit burned out by it all. There are so many books out there that if you are like me and you read this industry, it seems as though you can go from book to book to book and afterward say, "Now what?" So I took a break for a bit. Until Raise Your Game came out. I have followed Alan Stein Jr. for just the past year and was instantly fascinated by his resume. I thought, "WOW! This guy has worked with the best basketball players in the game. He must have some great stories and lessons!" And then, viola! Alan wrote a book! I was thrilled and the book does not disappoint. It is filled with stories only a guy with his experience can tell plus countless more stories that he has researched and dissected. Alan is a wonderful story teller. Beyond that, being a high performance coach he certainly understands how to ask the right questions that spark introspection, reflection and action. At the end of each chapter my "What now?" question is answered. And not by Alan telling me what to do. But instead by Alan asking the right questions in what he calls, "Self-test." I will never play in the NBA and have the opportunity to be coached by a guy like Alan. This book allows me to get as close to that experience as possible and I am grateful to have found it.
