Despite the book's somewhat questionable origins, I found the content to be beneficial, even essential, for my own esoteric studies and for those interested in expanding their own understanding of the ancient teachings, mainly when talking about Eastern esotericism, of course. There is a lot of commentary in the book, but the deliberations are fascinating and vital if you're going to try to understand the book's deeper concepts.Essentially, when you die, you enter another state of consciousness. Everything you see and experience in the afterlife appears real, but--like a dream--the only genuine reality hides behind the myriad of illusions you confront. If you train yourself in this state of consciousness, the life you're living right now, and discipline yourself in the esoteric lore that has survived the ages, when you die, you'll find the path to Absolute Freedom. There are many names for this Truth, so I use more generic references. Some call it Love, others call it God, and--of course--there's the title Nirvana.Without a guide to help direct you to the great light of truth, you are very likely to interpret an illusion as reality or you might simply succumb to the desires which those illusions instill. Perhaps you have unfinished business on this plane of existence. Maybe you still want to experience sex more, have a family, or help people. Maybe you died unexpectedly and you're confused and want to return to those you knew. Maybe you're angry and want to punish the world you felt treated you terribly. Regardless of what motivation overcomes you, the illusions will alter and intensify accordingly and create images you will mistake as being real and necessary to gravitate towards or runaway from--aimlessly even, until you're hopelessly lost. Thus, you are reborn.Although the text seems to indicate that the training process is relatively simple, I'm convinced that it takes multiple lifetimes to really train your consciousness to know what to remember and what to do in the afterlife to avoid rebirth. Another name for this forgetfulness is afterlife retrogression. Many experience it, and--alas--many are reincarnated, their past decisions determining their future circumstances in the next life.What this book does is begin the long-long-long journey towards natural transmutation. Your body is a temple, the greatest Great Pyramid ever built. Every body you inhabit is equally grand. Without True Education, though, the pyramid remains vacant, unused. It becomes a tomb. If you open the doors to the tomb and rise again to hear the Word, you might learn the path to true salvation. Does any of this rhetoric sound familiar? Everywhere the teachings of Eastern and Western ideologies blend, but the Tibetan Book of the Dead clarifies what is basically important in this life: avoid afterlife retrogression, break the cycle of necessity, and become One.For a greater appreciation of these concepts, I recommend the writings of Manly Hall (namely "Death to Rebirth: Five Essays by Manly Hall"), a translation of the Corpus titled The Way of Hermes, Jewish mystic teachings found in the Bahir and the Sefer Yetzirah, Platonic and Neoplatonic philosophy that can be found in the Dialogues and The Enneads, and, of course, the Egyptian Book of the Dead.

There are far better versions of this book out there written by exiles from Tibet. I'm sure ol Walt had great intentions, but the first five pages of this book made my head want to explode with all the footnotes, parenthetical and asides.

It shows the beaten track...can hardly even make out any other roads. Only mileage it gives is for 5 cities on each Island, 5 of which it doesn't even have a barely readable road to. All the tour bus stuff I'm sure. But for a real explore...forget it.

SUBCOMANDANTE MARCOS is a spokesperson and strategist for the Zapatistas, an indigenous insurgency movement based in Mexico. He first joined the indigenous guerrilla group that would become the Zapatistas in the early 1980s. Marcos is author of several books translated into English, including Shadows of Tender Fury (Monthly Review Press) which featured early letters and communiques, and a children's book Story of the Colors (Cinco Puntos), which won a Firecracker Alternative Book Award.

The Mayan Indians are a very humble and courageous people. I have listened to Marcos speak on Youtube and he seems to be a humble and grounded person. I applaud his commitment to refraining from the undermining trap of engaging in a cult of personality by covering his face. I imagine that it is also a practical measure to protect his identity, so that the Mexican government can't target his friends and family for retribution. I sincerely hope that the Mayan's dissident politics, or radical democratic way of life can survive, flourish, and help to inspire the rest of us around the world to change our ways too. I'm also impressed by the Kurdish PKK and their life and death struggle they are undertaking against the ultra-right wing evils of ISIS and the vile government of Bashar Al Assad. The Kurds also practice a form of radical democracy similar to the Mayans in Chiapas. Like the the Libertarian Socialist communes and collectives in Spain during the Spainish civil war, the Kurds and the Chiapas Mayans are bravely building and living the truly humanitarian life. With the sweeping scourge of ultra-right wing social urges, economic nationalism, and political fascism; we need to stand together as a global humanitarian people against the angry among us. They pine for the disgusting and brutal worlds that they have lost (Russian oligarchs and the Soviet Union); Racist religious nationalists (Britain, America, France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Syria, Israel...etc), who wish to utterly smash the progressive libertarian project that has been moving slowly but surly especially over the last fifty years. We leftist libertarians must stand against the dark, ignorant, and greedy power mongers and authoritarians among us. This is not a review of 'Our Word is our Weapon' because I have not read too much of it yet, but from what I have, it has inspired me to write this. Well worth acquiring this book, their cause is just and inspiring!!
Anyone interested in Zapatistas/EZLN or the words straight from Marcos...should read this book. I'm most the way though, but skip around as I please. I very much enjoyed the letter to Leonard Peltier, but also pg. 101, 'The opening remarks at the first Intercontinental Encuentro for humanity against Neoliberalsim, July, 27, 1996' is by far my favorite of his communications to date. I had it printed out and read it often even before owning this book. If someone is more interested in Marcos/Galeano/Delegado Zero et al. himself then I would recommend another book, 'Subcommander Marcos: The Man and the Mask' by Nick Henck. It goes in to his early life, influences and interviews old friends and professors..if he is indeed who we suspect he is ;)
I picked this book up sometime ago but never had the opportunity to flesh out this thick work. Finally, I decided to write a substantial research paper based on the EZLN and their use of cultural "warfare" to garner Mexican and international allies. Beyond being phenomenally well written in the beautiful prose of Marcos, the alternative vision of social relations the Zapatistas create is too awe-inspiring to ignore. Just when the world thought social experimentation was a relic of the 20th century, these poet-guerrillas dared to shift the paradigm.The book is a series of short communiques, poetry, and histories as told by the iconic Subcommandante Marcos. The reader can literally feel the sincerity and passion behind Marco's words as he riddles his tales. Although not directly applicable to the urban-industrial world, a point the EZLN makes itself several times, this book will inspire all to create a society based on Zapatista ethos: Democracy, Liberty, and Justice.
Subcommandante Marcos has a vision that worked not only for the Mayans and people of Chicapas but one that can work, in an adjusted form, for the world. His writing is poignant and this is a must read for anyone interested in TRULY changing the landscape of politics, society, community, and the way the world works and is run. Everyone should read this book. ALthough I must admit I am not all the way through the book yet, I have read enough and truly believe that a form of syndicalism is the only way that we can ever have collectively run, peaceful world. This is a must read along with the works of Emma Goldman, Albert Parsons, and Ghandhi.
The is a book I return to again and again to better understand a struggle for freedom going on right at our doorstep - in a remote area of Mexico. It has been helpful to me in understanding the ancient ways of the descendants of native cultures on this continent and what is required to preserve a way of life that is daily threatened. I am constantly reminded of the wisdom of a friend and teacher who teaches peace and justice workshops: "When you study history, ask what YOUR family was doing when such-and-such happened." That approach is made more feasible by reading this book.

Several years ago, after being examined by my Dr's PA for terrible pain in my stomach and lower back area, I was not given a diagnosis, but was given instruction to go home, follow Dr. Colbert's little book, "The Bible Cure for Candida and Yeast Infections", for two weeks and then come back for a followup appointment. During that time the pain and swelling in my abdomen subsided and I was feeling much better. The doctor's diagnosis was that I had a severe case of Candida and was told to continue following Dr. Colbert's instructions found in this little book. After three months, I lost 55 lbs and felt great and stayed on this program for over a year. Although the program is restrictive, it is do-able and after a while, became routine and I didn't miss giving up those food choices in order to feel well again. I am grateful for Dr. Colbert's faithfulness to providing health care in a way of eating healthier, which is God's way, instead of just pumping us full of pills as so many doctor's choose to do.
He really gives modern day information about yeast. He puts some scriptures on the side of different pages. I was dissappointed by this. I was led to believe that he would discuss possible dietary laws of the bible that would be helpful in todays society. That is not what kind of booklet this is. I suggest the Makers Diet if you want to have better understanding of the differences between modern eating habits vs biblical eating habits and its effects of health conditionslike yeast.
Well....if you know a little about candida, you won't really learn more in this book. It's simply a little book on candida, with some bible sayings included for support. I can't say I would recommend this.
My dad struggled with yeast for a long time recently so we ordered to get some answers...learned a lot and gained some great info. also learned autism like symptoms can be caused from yeast so I wanted to read this book for my son....tried some of the ideas in this book and relief was found in both cases.I read in one sitting and it is broken down nicely.
The road to my recovery started with prayer and then this book. It's comforting to know that: you're not alone, that this book identifies your symptoms, and delivers several healing suggestions through diet. It also prompts you to take time out for yourself, meditate on the scriptures that Dr. Colbert shares, and just relax. It's a great book, and will help you get better. The only thing I would add is find out from your doctor if you are getting enough folic acid in your body because Dr. Colbert briefly mentions folic acid in this book. God bless.
This book is a great assets for those who are researching candida diets and yeast-free diets. I found the author to be very knowledgeable and I was able to verify the information inside the book. I took notes and look forward to sitting down with my doctor to discuss its contents and the best course of action for my candida diet. Overall great book.
I appreciated the balance between trying to do what we can naturally and also the fact that God can heal people at times. Either way we need to give God the glory even if we only use the natural things here on His earth. The scripture verses were not magic potions, just just encouragement to not give up trying to cure different problems.
It is good to see great information, but it is a blessing to see great information verified by the Word of God. The Bible teaches us how to live in every aspect in order that we are strengthened and used by Christ. This book shows how the Bible can even help us deal with the modern-day issue of food impurities that is effecting the health of many. It is a practical and easy to understand book and a quick read.

This book was recommended to me by several participants on a Nature Conservancy field trip and it is as good as they said it was. It has close-up, black and white photos of the bark, buds, leaves, flowers and fruit of the shrubs and woody vines likely to be encountered growing wild in the Eastern half of the country, including naturalized exotics. We found an unknown shrub growing in Ives Road Fen Preserve, used this book to identify it as Jetbead, and then eradicated it. With more than 3500 photographs, this book gives you the best possible chance for identifying any bush you find growing wild.
It is all black and white illustrations with no color pictures. I am unable to identify a blooming shrub I have in my front yard as there isn't a colored picture of the blooms that I need. It was a waste of my money.
This is an essential tool for anyone interested in identifying shrubs in the eastern US. Although I was initially doubtful, the black-and-white photos are perfect for identification and work extremely well! I highly recommend this book along with the tree ID book.

I needed an introductory identification book for my middle schoolers. The detail and pictures were perfect for getting them to teach themselves. Some ID books are too wordy for their age range. This was perfect for my own use and for creating new naturalists!
This book is a serious walk through arbor identification. Fantastic companion to the author's same work in his book on tree identification. If you are a serious gardener or especially a land owner it is a great tool. You need this book!
This is a good ID book FOR THE EASTERN US! I thought I had read enough reviews but I apparently did not read far enough. The main description does NOT say it is for the eastern half of the US. Please, for future purchasers, state that it is for the Eastern half of the US.
