The software installs ok - although it makes you install Microsoft VM (MSFT's version of Java that they were forced to recall after litigation), and disable Sun Java. This may not matter to some as not too may websites are written in Java anymore - they use Flash. it really bothers me that I was forced to install an archaic, unsupported JVM to run this program.The book did it's job - it taught me the basics of G-Code. I was disappointed that the simulator did not understand some g-codes and required spaces between each parameter.I wish I read the previous reviews - I would have saved $50. Now to fix my computer . . .
This was a textbook required for a NC class I was taking. Didn't use it much, but from what I did use of it, it is a bit dated for the more modern machines in use now. It does give you some good basics, and machine G & M codes don't change over time so it is good for that. The software included with is is old, the CNC-EZ program is back from the day of DOS prompts, but it will work on Windows XP 32 bit, but don't hold your breath for it to work properly with Windows 7.
The book is great for any engineering student or anyone who wants to generally learn GD&T. It includes easy to understand diagrams and problems that make the material inside the book relevant. however, this is not for the unlearned, if you are a beginner or a 1st or 2nd year engineering student and have not taken advanced graphics of drafting this is very complicated and hard to follow without the background knowledge.
I could not get the simulators from the CD to run. I have the most recent associated software updates and a well-maintained virus-free newer computer. I saw a disclaimer somewhere while struggling with trying to get the simulator to run that it may not operate correctly with more current versions of bla-bla software, so I'm not sure. Anyway, if the software that comes with this book can't be made user-friendly enough to run with a minimum of hassle, then it's not much good to me. Yes, I will try to get one of my computer expert buddies to assist, but should I really have to do that after paying good money for this book/CD??
Was not aware it was used.
The book is an update to the previous edition. Unfortunately, everything you needed to know can be found in the original version for less $$. The software is buggy. The Java code is "write once, run maybe" and will not install on anything but certain versions/builds of Windows and internet explorer. Great book for learning G-codes, but buy the first edition at a discount.
The software is very old, won't run on my laptop, but the book meets my needs.
Works great, and a good price. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. I will definitely use this product again

I've only gone through the first two chapters but what I've experienced so far isn't very enjoyable. This book is plagued by grammatical mistakes which make examples hard to follow and at times has extremely vague instructions. I've had to look at the completed code for every exercise because some items were omitted from the instructions. This book does contain a lot of useful information if you can manage to complete the exercises.
Fair content. But NO CODE SAMPLES AVAILABLE for download online like the author George Taskos indicated in the preface. When opening a ticket with Packt Publishing, they just left the ticket open with no resolution and no response to my follow-ups.Save your money since the cookbook series are where you go for code.Revision: A week later they provided the code download and offered a complimentary ebook. I appreciate and may consider using Packt books in the future.
I'm generally a very positive person - I tend to see the up side, but I am soooo frustrated by this book. Most of the tech books in my library are from Wrox and I'm used to very thorough instructions and explanations. I have spent hours trying to figure out how to do things in this book that should have been made clear in the text. An example: while entering code for 3rd party authentication, the following code snippet was in the book:ClientId = "YOUR_CLIENT_ID", ClientSecret = "YOUR_CLIENT_SECRET". I assume my credentials should be used here - even though the book never mentions it. It does tell you to go to Facebook to get a "key" which FB calls an App ID. So is that the same as the Client Id, or is that the Client Secret? And what are you supposed to use for the other value? The book does not make this clear, so you get to spend time away from learning Xamarin Forms and experiment by trial and error. This kind of thing happens over and over. I'm looking for another book - $32 wasted.
Good explanation almost chapters. Good for beginning step to Xamarin. I like the book and writing technique. Easy to understand.
I've started this book because of a project I was assigned and like every manager he needed the project 'yesterday'.As I was experienced with the C# language I got my project up and running in no time.The book provided me all the recipes and needed explanations.
This book was easy to follow and taught me a lot about the topic. This definitely met my expectations and I hope there are more to come. Maybe on the Universal Windows Platform?

I buy one every year now! We keep the next month's photo a surprise and my 6 and 7 yr olds and myself all love turning to a new month and admiring Sally's creativity. So far I can't bring myself to throw the past calendars away because the photos are so amazing!
We typically purchase a Flower Fairies illustrated calendar (Cicely Mary Baker), but didn't see one available for 2019, so purchased the Fairy Houses photo calendar. We love it--the images are beautiful, the pages thick, and the cover sturdy, so we know it won't be falling apart mid-year, which is great! Highly recommend!
I have been buying her calendars for the past 5 years - I love them so much. The pictures take me away to the world of fairies and I love to stay there. I can't bear to throw the calendars away - I cut them in two, stack the pages in order and hang them around my house - changing them for each month.

This is my second year choosing the Fairy Houses calendar. I have the calendar posted by the door so I am reminded to look for the whimsy that does exist before I head out into the cruel world. I may go ahead and get one next year too. The color quality is vibrant, without being overly enhanced to distort the colors in the photos to look overprocessed.

This book is not only large, all numbers are presented on same page as puzzle. Also the book itself has very good, highly visible graphics, with a shiny and heavy cover. One of the nicer puzzle books I've purchased. I would definitely recommend this book for much fun and nice appearance. Book(s) arrived on time, as promised, and intact.

I'm an adult teaching myself to play piano and this is the best book I've come across. It's the least confusing. It's a great book for any age beginner. It's also cheaper than the other two books I bought.
This is an excellent, colorful book for beginning piano students. I wondered where this feel on the spectrum of books when looking at Teaching Little Fingers How to Play which was the first book my piano teacher used with me, along with the notespeller. After ordering those as well, I would say this book would go first and is a combination of the styles of Teaching Little Fingers How to Play (which is instructional and has basic songs) and the Note Speller (where they practice just that). This book has the instructional piece with songs and worksheets for as well. It makes me wonder if it was designed as a replacement. If trying to decide between these two John Thompson resources for a little one, you may one to go with this one first and follow the progression of these. I don't regret buying the others, I like the songs in it for beginners. I will be using all of them with my kiddos.
I have taught music for over 40 years, and have found this to be the most logical and easily comprehended beginning piano book on the market!
So far I enjoy using this book. For me as an adult just learning the keyboard I feel this book really broke it down I mean it is design for a child I would assume. Suits me well as a beginner. Haven't finish the entire book as of yet but I feel I'm learning more than I knew previously. So great! Small strides.
A great starter book for any child beginning piano lessons. I used this for my 7 year old who had never played before, and he loved it. The lessons are engaging, easy to follow and FUN.
This book is an easier version of Teaching Little Fingers to Play: A Book for the Earliest Beginner (John Thompsons Modern Course for The Piano). I bought both of them as I wasn't sure which would be more suitable for my daughters (8 & 7 y.o) to begin with. This was definitely where they needed to start. It teaches you the absolute core basics of piano and reading notes. This may not be ideal for adult beginners as you would find it way to easy. For my little girls however, they responded very well. There are accompaniments on each page, so you can play along and make it more a group activity than just a lesson, but the accompaniments to me are not so easy to play. (I can play very simple/very easy scores) and they are tiny. (see pic). There are colorful pictures of monsters, but they don't seem to distract my girls. I'd recommend this for the little ones.
Misleading cover, I had thought it would be a great book for a child to use to learn piano with help on colored or numbered keys, but it is not geared for a child regarding this. It teaches how to read sheet music and proceed with the piano lesson with basic children' s songs. I had seen other books start a child out with getting the child to learn the keys by numbering them or coloring them with stickers. Making it more fun for the child to participate in a piano lesson.
Easy??? Not really. Certainly not good for a little kid. Also, graphics in this books are pretty unappealing and .. well, ugly ;(Not recommended
